Full black Solar Panel
There is a high number of industrial solar energy customers who prioritize solar panels with effective power output. Full black solar panels are more effective for industrial needs and are designed with the latest technology to harness the sun’s energy optimally.
Reasons why solar panels are fully black?
The black solar panel has a dark appearance for so many reasons and techniques designed to minimize visibility, reflections, and brightness. Below are some of the reasons why:
Mono-crystalline Cells: We have two different types of cells, which include polycrystalline silicon cells and mono-crystalline silicon cells. Mono are dark blue in appearance but almost black from a distance, hence black solar panels are usually referred to as mono-crystalline cells. The dark appearance makes the panels operate more stably and also optimizes the amount of sun energy effectively.
Black back-sheet: This is the backside or the underside of the solar panel. Fully black solar panel back-sheets are typically made of chosen black materials like black EVA (ethylene Vinyl acetate co-polymer) or any other black back-sheet materials. This improves the reduction of visibility reflections.
Black Frame: To have the uniformity of the black theme of solar panels, the frames are designed with a black anodized aluminum frame. This idea of using the black aluminum frame plays an important role in creating the uniformity of the black appearance of the solar panel.
Glass: The front glass of the black solar panel keeps maximum ray transition as much as possible to enable cells to absorb more light and convert it into the required energy. The glass-glass solar panel also has embedded glass on the back. The back of the glass contains two thickness layers of 2.0mm and 1.6mm. It is also made of semi-tempered low-iron ultra-white photovoltaic glass with a grid (black grid) or without the grid based on demand and preference. In the case of glass-glass fully black solar panels, the backside glass is usually transparent hence the sink bars and other connecting parts are possible to be visible in some cases. To maintain the overall full black appearance the manufacturer may incorporate a black grid structure to the back glass. The reason for adding the grid structure is to give the solar panel the perfect black color and to protect the busbar of the solar panel.
Contacts & Busbars: Fully black solar panels contain black materials, the interconnecting wires or busbars. This is possible to be achieved by using black conductive adhesives or any other black materials. Busbars and contacts on the front surface of the cells are designed with dark colors to appear black to reduce visibility.
Silicone: Silicone is used to manufacture solar panels, Mostly glass-glass solar panels to compact and hold the cells intact and also to provide additional protection to the panel. The silicon is dyed or used in the selected specific black to maintain the black outlook. While attaching the solar frames to the glass, the dyed or black silicon is used entirely to maintain the consistent blackness and seamless color outlook. The use of black silicon enhances the cohesion.
Full black solar panels achieve an extremely black appearance by using black materials, to reduce reflections, using cells efficiently, and optimizing the solar panel design. They are mostly used in areas where appearance is paramount like residential, industrial, or any other architectural sectors. Despite the advantages in archiving the appearance energy conversion rate and efficiency of the solar panel may be compromised sometimes to achieve a sleek appearance.
Advantages of Full Black Solar Panels
Reduce Glare: The mounting systems are made of aluminum, which is highly reflective and attractive. By using black mounting systems like black solar panels, black mounting blocks, black brackets, black cables, etc, it's possible to reduce reflections. Full black design reduces glare and reflection. This is particularly important in narrow buildings, especially residential installations since it prevents the other residents from experiencing reflection
Good Outlook: Fully black solar panels are designed with a sleek and uniform appearance, they blend well with roofing materials and the environment also increases property value.
High Snow-Melting Capacity: Since they have stronger heat-absorbing capacity, accelerate the melting point of the snow in cold areas during snowy seasons.
Disadvantages of Full Black Solar Panels
High Cost: The production of color is more difficult to control, the raw materials are also demanding and very expensive, the glass and the dark-colored cell. Incorporating the same color and no color difference is a huge challenge to fully black companies that manufacture solar panels. The production rate of full black solar panels is relatively low, therefore it's more expensive than optional solar panels like conventional and poly-crystalline solar panels. The black sleek outlook design and use of mono-crystalline cells are generally expensive.
Low Efficiency: Generally mono-crystalline solar are known for efficiency, full black solar panels are less efficient than the basic mono-crystalline solar panels because of the added layers of coating materials, which makes the panel heat up faster and function at a high temperature and hence unable to absorb reflected light which leads to reduction to general efficiency. The sheet that is used to design the panels full black absorbs the sun’s rays causing the intensity to be low while the Cell-to-Module (CTM) value is about 2.5% lower than the one made of silver module.
